The problem most frequently arises during puberty. If the breast protrusions do not regress sufficiently, an operation, known as gynaecomastia surgery, can help. Sometimes a minimally invasive technique such as liposuction is sufficient to correct the problem. In other cases, an incision on the nipple is necessary. In the case of pubertal gynaecomastia in particular, health insurance companies often cover the costs.
