An upper arm lift is a surgical procedure that is aimed at people who suffer from sagging skin or excess fatty tissue in the upper arm area. There are various reasons why someone might opt for an upper arm lift:
Upper arm lifts are one of the most frequently performed aesthetic procedures and can make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life of those affected. A successful upper arm lift leads to firmer and more aesthetic upper arms, increased self-confidence and makes it possible to wear clothes with shorter sleeves without discomfort.
There are various methods of upper arm lift that can be used depending on the patient's individual circumstances and wishes. The appropriate procedure is selected after careful consideration of the respective situation and in a joint discussion between the doctor and patient.
In this method, excess fatty tissue on the upper arms is removed with the help of a Liposuction (liposuction) and tightens the skin at the same time. This procedure is particularly suitable for patients who have both excess skin and fatty tissue.
In some cases, liposuction alone is sufficient to achieve the desired results. This is the case if there is excess fatty tissue but the skin is still sufficiently elastic and retracts after liposuction.
This procedure allows an effective combination of circumference reduction of the upper arm through liposuction and supportive tightening of the skin with radiofrequency energy to be performed on suitable patients without additional skin incisions.
Dr Noack attaches particular importance to making the incisions as inconspicuous as possible during an upper arm lift. This is achieved by placing the incisions on the lower or back of the upper arm in order to conceal the scars as much as possible later on. The scarring on the inside of the upper arm, which is too clearly visible using the classic technique, is obsolete with Dr Noack.
Each method of upper arm lift has its own advantages and disadvantages. With liposuction alone, the scars are usually smaller, but the method is less effective on severely sagging skin. The combination of liposuction and skin tightening leads to more visible scars, but enables better results with sagging skin.
The choice of the appropriate method depends on various factors, such as the extent of skin laxity and the amount of excess fatty tissue. Dr Noack will advise you in detail and work with you to determine the best procedure for your individual needs.
The first step in an upper arm lift is a detailed preliminary consultation, during which Dr Noack will discuss your individual wishes and expectations and carry out a thorough examination. He will assess the condition of your upper arms, discuss possible methods of upper arm lift surgery and draw up a personalised treatment plan.
It is essential that you follow the doctor's individual instructions for your health profile. The main focus here is, for example, the discontinuation of anticoagulant medication (e.g. aspirin, Marcumar) if you are taking these and your diet before the operation. Excessive alcohol consumption and sleeping pills should be largely avoided at least 14 days before the operation. Abstinence from nicotine is recommended for at least 4 weeks before the operation, as otherwise considerable wound healing disorders may occur.
The procedure for an upper arm lift varies depending on the method chosen, the individual circumstances and the patient's needs. Below you will find a comprehensive and detailed explanation of the surgical procedure:
After the operation, you will usually remain in the clinic for one night for monitoring. Dr Noack will give you special behavioural instructions for the post-operative phase in order to optimally support the healing process. Painkillers will be used to alleviate discomfort and regular follow-up examinations will take place to monitor the healing process. Full recovery and the final result of the upper arm lift will be visible after around three to six months.
Dr Noack performs an upper arm lift without drains. After the operation, a special compression bandage (compression sleeve) is applied, which you must wear day and night for three to four weeks. Stitches generally do not need to be removed. To improve the healing process, you should refrain from excessive alcohol consumption in the weeks following the operation and from smoking completely for a few weeks before and after the operation.
Light physical work and sporting activities can be started after four to five weeks and then slowly increased. The scar should not be exposed to the sun for about a year. Although in most cases an indicative result is visible soon after the operation, the first results can be assessed after three months at the earliest. However, a final result is often only visible after around eight to twelve months and depends not only on the operation alone (swelling etc.), but also on the course of aftercare and the discipline with which you adhere to the necessary post-operative guidelines.
The cost of an upper arm lift varies depending on the extent and complexity of the procedure and the method used. Individual factors such as the condition of the skin and the amount of excess fatty tissue also play a role. The exact costs will be discussed in a personal consultation with Dr Noack and set out in an individual cost estimate.
For patients who are considering an upper arm lift but cannot pay the entire cost at once, Dr Noack offers instalment payment options in cooperation with selected financing partners. This allows you to pay off the procedure in monthly instalments, with the exact terms being discussed during a consultation.
Depending on individual wishes and requirements, additional services can be utilised that have an impact on the overall costs. These include, for example, the combination of an upper arm lift and liposuction or radiofrequency lifting or additional treatments to optimise the aesthetic result. Dr Noack will show you all the available options in a personal consultation and make appropriate recommendations.

More InformationThe long-term results of an upper arm lift are generally very satisfactory and can contribute to a significant improvement in quality of life. Our patients report increased self-confidence, greater comfort when wearing clothes and an improved body image. In most cases, scarring becomes less visible over time and the results can be maintained in the long term through a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise.
As with any surgical procedure, pain, risks and scarring can occur during an upper arm lift. As a rule, post-operative pain is easily manageable and subsides within a few days. Possible risks such as bleeding, infections or wound healing disorders are rare, but can occur. Scars are caused by the incision and vary depending on the method used. Dr Noack uses modern techniques to keep scarring to a minimum.
Realistic expectations are crucial for satisfaction with the results of an upper arm lift. In a personal consultation, Dr Noack will show you the individual possibilities and limits of the treatment and give you a realistic outlook on the possible result.
After an upper arm lift, it is important to support the healing process by making appropriate adjustments to everyday life. This includes wearing compression garments, avoiding heavy lifting and intensive physical activity for a certain period of time and following the recommendations for wound care.
