The position of the eyebrows is more individual than almost any other structure on the face, and the judgement as to which eyebrow position and shape is perceived as beautiful is just as subjective (see illustration). Men generally have slightly lower eyebrows than women. The older you get, the lower your eyebrows become. On the one hand, this is due to Loss of elasticity of the skin and the loss of volume in the temple area. This leads to the lateral parts of the eyebrows moving downwards more than the inner parts of the eyebrows pointing towards the nose.

These lose their natural roundness and make your upper eyelids appear as regular skin pads on the side. This is known as brow ptosis. The lower the eyebrows are positioned, the more we tend to pull them upwards to relieve pressure on the eyes. This produces the Horizontal wrinkles in the forehead area.

Eyebrow lifting techniques

Direct brow lift

A classic technique in which a small incision is made directly on the upper hairline of the eyebrows. A small elliptical skin spindle is removed above this so that the shape and position of the brows can be planned easily and safely. The brow lift is easy to perform under local anaesthetic. However, the small scar is visible in the skin for some time, but can be easily concealed with make-up. Depending on how the scar heals, it fades with varying degrees of speed and reliability.

Gliding Brow Lift

This is a modern and effective technique favoured by Dr Noack. A small, 5 mm wide incision is made at the hairline of the temple to loosen the skin in the forehead and temple area, pull it upwards and fix the brow in its new position using a special suturing technique.

The special sutures are removed just 48 hours after the operation. The advantage of the Gliding Brow Lift is the virtually scar-free lifting of the brows, which can alternatively be performed without an additional incision at the hairline as part of an upper eyelid lift. The procedure is performed under deep sedation or a light general anaesthetic.

Internal brow fixation

Together with a Upper eyelid lift In addition, the eyebrow is fixed to the bone edge of the eye socket via the same incision using internal sutures. Slight elevations can be achieved in this way. The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic.
